Day 1:
This is my first time to Seattle and also to this state! My friend and I decided we were just going to eat our way around this city.
Nana’s Green Tea- go here if you love matcha. We shared a matcha parfait and it was DELIGHTFUL. The whole place has cute decor too. This was only a couple blocks away from our hotel.
We grabbed an actual lunch at Wild Ginger McKenzie. We shared some appetizers, but wasn’t at all impressed with their duck bao… The meat was a bit dry. The service was top-notch though.
We checked out Chihuly Garden and Museum next. Since it was another oddly warm day, this got us out of the heat for a bit. Admission is about $36 but if you enjoy looking at art, I recommend visiting. If you've been to Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and looked up at the ceiling, you will also recognize Chihuly's glass art work.
Kerry Park was next. The park was much smaller than I imagined, but it did have great views of the the needle and Seattle skyline. This is a big time tourist spot in the middle of a neighborhood. We meant to get there at sunset but got there too early. We sat around for a bit before heading to dinner.
Our original dinner plans were to go to a restaurant but when we got there, we were told the wait time was anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours. No thanks. We also forgot it was a Friday night. A quick google search and a few blocks later landed us at Kizuki Ramen where we had delicious food and a warm welcome from the employees.
Day 2:
We had a second breakfast at Cafe Hagen (the first was at our hotel), where we ordered a matcha latte and a coffee flight. Don't get the coffee flight. It was not worth it, even though it was aesthetically pleasing. We waited for awhile to order so if you're interested in checking this place out, I would go early.
The flagship REI store was only a block away so we walked on over to it. If you've been to an REI, this one is unlike the others. This had a short trail and waterfall (even if it was man-made it was still cool), even before stepping through the front doors of the store.
Pike Place is the ultimate tourist spot in Seattle. I was pleasantly surprised by how cheap the large bouquets of flowers were selling for. The place was packed and a bit overwhelming so personally I was glad we zoomed through the whole thing fairly quickly. My souvenir from there was a cookies and cream cannoli that I scarved down happily.
The first Starbucks was in the vicinity and it was honestly underwhelming. True, the logo is different from the other stores, but why would you want to wait in a line that goes down three blocks? I recommend skipping it.
Our Beneath the Streets tour was toward the end of the day and this is one tour I highly recommend. We had a great tour guide too. Most of it wasn't underground, but you do spend a good chunk seeing some of the old original parts of Seattle and the newly constructed ones. The underground parts are not all connected, which is the reason why the tour is mostly above ground. If you have interest in learning about Seattle's origins, the tour is linked here. There is a fair bit of walking, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
Day 3:
This was our last day in Seattle and we ended it with a boat cruise in Elliot's Bay. It was a beautiful late morning and we didn't need sweaters or jackets. Like the previous tour, there was a live commentary and it was a relaxing way to enjoy the trip. Bring a sweater just in case, and sit outside on the top floor of the boat if you can. The cruise lasts for an hour and is linked here.
Dough Zone Dumpling House was our last destination for Seattle before flying home. I haven't had authentic Chinese food in such a long time so this was a treat. We ordered dumplings and a noodle soup to share. Apparently this is also a chain, so it's a restaurant that I'll have to revisit near me.
